As President of Northeastern's ASME Chapter, I build the community for Northeastern's largest engineering major.
Since 1880, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers has acted as a national professional association to establish education, standards, conferences, and networking for professional mechanical engineers.
Northeastern’s ASME Chapter serves our school by providing weekly industry meetings, technical workshops, certification courses, career events, scholarships, and social opportunities.

My Journey:
ASME was one of the first clubs I joined as a freshman. I'll admit - I came for the pizza, but stayed for the networking and learning.
At my first ASME meeting, we had a build challenge to create a catapult that could launch a projectile the furthest. That day, my team won the challenge, and I took home an ASME shirt, cementing my future in the organization.
As a sophomore, I set forth to join the eboard. My loosely-defined role gave me the mobility to help out in every sector of the club, gaining experience assisting with industry meetings and workshops.
After taking ASME's Solidworks Certified Associate course my freshman year, I self-studied and achieved a perfect score on the Certified Professional exam. Using this knowledge, I returned the following year to instruct the course, mentoring over 121 students in weekly meetings, culminating in 92% achieving their certifications.
As the internal communications officer, I sent biweekly emails toΒ 1,600 students. I refined the art of email-crafting, learning how to distill messaging down to the essentials.
I was honored to be awarded the 2021 James D. Arangio Memorial Scholarship, awarded to one exemplary student with a passion & dedication to the field of Mechanical Engineering & ASME.
As the Vice President of Workshops, I organized weekly events to educate students on practical engineering skills. Each event was its own endeavor in scheduling, logistics, and promotion. My favorite workshops included Sheet Metal, Injection Molding, Kinematic Constraints, Surfacing, Mechanisms, and GD&T.
From a freshman being introduced to the world of ASME at the 2019 kickoff, I finished my Northeastern journey responsible for introducing the next generation of students to the club. As the President, I oversaw all aspects of the club's success.
My initiatives included:
- Club Longevity - Expanded the eboard to train the next cohort of leaders
- Event Reflection - Established regular internal discussions after every event, recorded for future eboards.
- Process Improvement - Introduced task management software, consolidated communications platform, and process workflows (e.g. flier requesting & creation) to streamline eboard workflows.
